Cheryl’s Career Journey

With a career deeply rooted in nursing and leadership, Cheryl’s passion for health care stems from a desire to simplify patient access to care. Having started her career as a nurse, she quickly advanced to leadership roles, culminating in her position as system vice president of access at Bon Secours Mercy Health. This experience laid the foundation for Conduit’s focus on improving patient transfers and access through innovative solutions.

The Formation of Conduit Health Partners

In 2017, Conduit Health Partners was born out of the need to replicate the success of centralized patient transfer and nurse-first triage models beyond the Bon Secours Mercy Health system. Today, Conduit supports over 230 team members, including 125 registered nurses, all working remotely to handle more than 10 million patient calls across 48 states.

“Our goal is to improve care quality by helping patients access the right care at the right time,” said Cheryl. “This approach benefits not only patients but also health care staff, allowing them to focus on providing bedside care.”

Conduit’s Core Solutions

Conduit’s core services including nurse-first triage and patient transfer center solutions.  Through nurse-first triage, patients receive immediate, informed care advice, reducing unnecessary emergency room visits. Our patient transfer services ensure smooth transitions of care across hospitals, allowing for better patient outcomes and optimized hospital resources.

“Our nurse-first triage offers peace of mind to families and patients alike, while also contributing to cost savings by preventing unnecessary ED visits and readmissions,” shared Cheryl.

Challenges and Future Goals

One challenge Cheryl highlighted is quantifying the value of mission-driven health care work. While metrics like reducing ED visits are easy to measure, building trust and improving care access are harder to capture in financial terms.

Conduit is expanding, driven by the need for trusted patient care solutions. With our unique nurse-first approach and data-driven insights, we continue to strive toward our goal of delivering high-quality, accessible care for all.
